CleanElite PureSteam™ Cleaner Troubleshooting & Support Guide

Having trouble getting the most out of your CleanElite PureSteam™ Cleaner? Before contacting our support team, please work through the troubleshooting steps below.

Many common issues can be resolved by checking the water level, allowing the cleaner to fully heat, ensuring the safety cap is correctly tightened and using the cleaner in the correct position.

Before You Begin

For safe operation, always:

  • Use the cleaner according to the instructions provided.
  • Ensure the water tank contains water before switching the cleaner on.
  • Do not exceed the recommended 250 mL water fill.
  • Ensure the safety cap is fully tightened before use.
  • Keep the cleaner as upright as possible during operation and do not incline the machine more than 45°.
  • Never direct steam towards people, animals or electrical products.
  • Never open the safety cap while the cleaner is pressurised or hot.
  • Always unplug the cleaner before refilling, cleaning or performing maintenance.
  • Allow the cleaner to cool before handling attachments or opening the tank.

Collapsible content

1. My PureSteam™ Cleaner Isn't Producing Steam

First, check the following:

1. Does the tank contain water?

The cleaner should never be operated without water.

2. Has the cleaner had enough time to heat?

Allow approximately 3–5 minutes for the cleaner to heat up.

3. Is the safety cap fully tightened?

The cap needs to be securely tightened. If it is not fully tightened, steam may escape around the cap rather than through the attachment.

4. Is the steam button being pressed?

Once the machine has heated to operating temperature, press the steam button to release the steam.

If there is still no steam:

Switch the cleaner off, unplug it and allow it to cool completely. Check that the water level is appropriate and that the attachment is correctly connected before trying again.

If the cleaner has been correctly filled, fully heated and operated according to the instructions but still produces no steam, please contact CleanElite Support.

2. Water Is Coming Out Instead of Steam

This is one of the most common issues that can occur if the cleaner has been overfilled or is being operated incorrectly.

Check your water level

Although the tank has a 350 mL capacity, we recommend filling it with no more than 250 mL of water.

If too much water is added, the cleaner may spray water through the attachment during use.

What to do:

  1. Turn the cleaner off.
  2. Unplug it from the power outlet.
  3. Allow the unit to cool completely.
  4. Release any remaining pressure according to the instructions.
  5. Empty excess water if necessary.
  6. Refill with no more than 250 mL of water.
  7. Fully tighten the safety cap.
  8. Allow the cleaner approximately 3–5 minutes to heat.
  9. Test the steam again.

Important

The cleaner should also remain as upright as possible during use. Do not incline the machine more than 45°, as boiling water may be sprayed out together with the steam.

If the cleaner continues to release excessive water after you have followed these steps, please contact CleanElite Support.

3. Water Is Dripping From the Flat Squeegee Nozzle

If you are experiencing water dripping from the wide squeegee nozzle, first check the following:

Step 1 — Check the water level

Make sure the tank contains no more than 250 mL of water.

An overfilled tank can cause water to be expelled during use.

Step 2 — Allow the cleaner to fully heat

Allow approximately 3–5 minutes for the cleaner to heat before testing.

Step 3 — Check the position of the cleaner

Keep the cleaner as upright as possible while operating it.

Do not incline the main unit more than 45°.

Step 4 — Check the attachment

Ensure the squeegee nozzle and any connecting components are correctly and securely attached.

Step 5 — Test again

After checking the above, allow the unit to fully heat and test it again.

If the cleaner continues to continuously drip or release excessive water despite using 250 mL or less, allowing the unit to fully heat and keeping it in the correct position, the unit may require further assessment.

Please contact CleanElite Support and provide a short video showing the issue so our team can assess it.

4. My Steam Seems Weak

If the steam doesn't seem as powerful as expected, check the following:

Allow the cleaner to fully heat

The PureSteam™ Cleaner takes approximately 3–5 minutes to heat.

Check the water level

Make sure you have not overfilled the tank.

The recommended water fill is 250 mL or less.

Check the attachment

Ensure the attachment is properly connected and secure.

Check the safety cap

The safety cap must be fully tightened. If it is loose, steam may escape around the cap.

Check your distance from the surface

Steam temperature decreases as it travels away from the nozzle. For the strongest steam, work at an appropriate distance from the surface rather than holding the nozzle too far away.

The PureSteam™ Cleaner produces steam at temperatures of up to approximately 115°C.

5. My Cleaner Is Releasing Steam Around the Safety Cap

If steam is escaping around the safety cap:

  1. Stop using the cleaner.
  2. Switch it off and unplug it.
  3. Allow the cleaner to cool.
  4. Do not attempt to remove the cap while the unit is pressurised.
  5. Once completely safe to handle, check that the cap and surrounding area are clean and that the cap can be correctly tightened.

The safety cap must be fully tightened before operation.

If steam continues to escape around the cap when it is correctly tightened, discontinue use and contact CleanElite Support.

6. I Can't Open the Safety Cap

Do not force the safety cap open.

The PureSteam™ Cleaner has a safety design that prevents the cap from being opened while pressure remains inside the tank.

After use:

  1. Switch the cleaner off.
  2. Unplug the power cord.
  3. Press the steam button to release the remaining internal pressure.
  4. Continue until no more steam is being released.
  5. Raise the steam button.
  6. Slowly unscrew the safety cap, but do not immediately remove it.
  7. Allow any remaining pressure to dissipate.
  8. Place the machine somewhere safe and allow it to cool for approximately 5 minutes.
  9. Once completely cooled and safe, remove the cap.

If the cap still cannot be opened after the unit has completely cooled and pressure has been released, do not force it. Contact CleanElite Support.

7. The Cleaner Stops Producing Steam

If steam stops during cleaning:

  • Check whether the water tank needs to be refilled.
  • Switch off and unplug the cleaner before refilling.
  • Never attempt to open the safety cap while the machine is hot or pressurised.
  • Follow the pressure-release and cooling procedure before opening the tank.
  • Refill with no more than 250 mL of water.

Once safely refilled, securely tighten the safety cap and allow the machine to heat again.

8. Steam Is Coming Out Slowly

Steam may initially come out slowly while the cleaner reaches operating temperature.

Allow approximately 3–5 minutes for the unit to heat.

Also check:

  • Water level is no more than 250 mL.
  • Safety cap is fully tightened.
  • Attachment is properly connected.
  • Cleaner is being held in the correct position.
  • The nozzle is not obstructed.

If steam remains unusually weak after these checks, contact CleanElite Support.

9. My Attachment Doesn't Fit Properly

If an attachment is difficult to connect:

  1. Switch the cleaner off.
  2. Unplug it.
  3. Allow it to cool completely.
  4. Check that you are using the correct connecting piece.
  5. Check the attachment for visible damage.
  6. Ensure the attachment is fully inserted and securely connected before use.

Never attempt to force an attachment into position.

If an attachment appears damaged or cannot be securely connected, contact CleanElite Support.

10. Steam Stops When I Move the Cleaner

The PureSteam™ Cleaner should not be heavily tilted during operation.

Do not incline the machine more than 45°.

If the machine is held at too great an angle, boiling water may be expelled together with the steam.

For best results, keep the main unit as upright as reasonably possible while cleaning.

11. How Do I Refill the PureSteam™ Cleaner?

Always unplug the cleaner before refilling.

Never refill while the machine is connected to power or pressurised.

After use:

  1. Unplug the cleaner.
  2. Press the steam button to release remaining pressure.
  3. Ensure no more steam is being released.
  4. Slowly loosen the safety cap.
  5. Allow residual pressure to dissipate.
  6. Allow the machine to cool for approximately 5 minutes.
  7. Remove the safety cap.
  8. Empty any remaining water if required.
  9. Add fresh water using the supplied measuring cup and funnel.
  10. Do not exceed 250 mL.
  11. Fully tighten the safety cap before use.

12. How Much Water Should I Put in the Cleaner?

The tank has a 350 mL capacity, however the recommended fill amount is no more than 250 mL.

We recommend using the supplied measuring cup to help ensure the correct amount of water is added.

Do not overfill the tank.

Adding too much water may cause the cleaner to spray water during operation.

13. My Cleaner Is Leaking Water

If you notice water leaking:

Around the attachment

Check that the attachment is correctly connected and that the cleaner has not been overfilled.

Around the safety cap

Check that the cap has been correctly and fully tightened.

From the main body

Stop using the cleaner immediately, unplug it and allow it to cool.

Do not continue using a cleaner that has visible damage or is leaking from the main body.

Contact CleanElite Support for assistance.

14. The Cleaner Has Been Dropped or Damaged

Do not continue using the cleaner if it has:

  • Been dropped
  • Been visibly damaged
  • Been submerged or dropped into water
  • A damaged power cord or plug
  • Cracks or damage to the body
  • Any other damage that could affect safe operation

Unplug the appliance and contact CleanElite Support.

15. Cleaning & Storage

After each use:

  1. Unplug the power cord.
  2. Release the remaining internal pressure.
  3. Slowly loosen the safety cap.
  4. Allow residual steam to escape.
  5. Allow the cleaner to cool for approximately 5 minutes.
  6. Remove the safety cap.
  7. Empty any remaining water from the tank.
  8. Wipe the exterior with a dry cloth.
  9. Allow the cleaner and accessories to dry appropriately.
  10. Reinstall and tighten the safety cap for storage.

Store the cleaner indoors in a cool, dry place.

The PureSteam™ Cleaner is designed to use water.

Do not add:

  • Detergent
  • Alcohol
  • Descaling agents
  • Rust removers
  • Other cleaning chemicals

Adding other substances may damage the tank or internal components.
